Washington, D.C.

My army is preparing their new camps near Washington, D.C. They are paying close attention to sanitation and care to avoid damage to property. The 14th is camping near Fort Bunker Hill and will move trains through Washington tomorrow. All excess transportation, equipment and animals are to be turned in to the Quartermaster as the Army of the Tennessee, the Army of Georgia and the Army of the Potomac prepare to disband. Commanders and troops throughout the south needed to disarm the enemy and to prepare for a new order are still active. Jeff Davis has been captured and sent to Washington. In a short time I will take leave of the army and travel home to see my family.
