Near Hillsboro, Mississippi

We continue our movement back to Vicksburg. I have issued orders against burning and destruction on our return because this area is of little military value to the enemy. We find plenty of food. We try to keep stragglers to a minimum because the enemy cavalry nearby has taken some prisoners. The stragglers are responsible for much of the unauthorized burning.
