Camp on the Big Black River, Near Vicksburg

Life in camp is good, but soon we must again go on the offensive. Rosecrans has driven Bragg out of Chattanooga and into Georgia. When the weather cools, we should march through Mississippi and into Alabama. My family is with me enjoying the camp life. Minnie is a good rider and accompanies me sometimes on horseback. Willing and Tommy are practicing Soldiering with their Uncle Charlie. I have brought experts to Vicksburg to drill the troops and keep them fit for the upcoming battles.
