Camp, Walnut Hill, Near Vicksbrg, Mississippi

General Grant has relieved General McClernand and replaced him with Ord. General McClernand is reported to have said, We are both relieved. The whole army is relieved to be rid of him. I shall continue to be wary of McClernand. He blames me for his downfall.
