Grand Gulf Mississippi

My Divisions are in the slow process of crossing the Mississippi River. As we enter Grand Gulf, Troops from McPherson’s Divisions are moving inland. My Divisions will start inland immediately.

Back at Milliken’s Bend, the men are building an 8 mile land route from Milliken’s to just below the batteries at Warrenton. This will allow us to move supplies past Vicksburg and the Warrenton Batteries by land and be sent by boat to our army here at Grand Gulf. It would be best if Grant can get his army on the Yazoo. Then we will have direct supply by boat from Memphis.
