Camp Near Vicksburg

Admiral Porter is fitting his boats to run the batteries. They are stacking corn and hay on the decks to protect the boilers and hide them from view. My divisions are split with Steele up the river at Greenville and other divisions strung along the canal from Milliken’s Bend to Warrenton.
